Construction Trades Students Visit Northwood High School Project for Real-World Learning

According to the Montgomery County Students Construction Trades Foundation (MCSCTF), students are gaining hands-on experience in commercial construction through partnerships with industry professionals, including The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company.

Second-year students in carpentry, HVAC, and electrical programs at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown recently visited the construction site of the new Northwood High School, where they observed progress since their initial visit in November 2025 and saw multiple phases of construction taking place simultaneously.

Students were able to view different stages of the project, including finishing work, façade installation, and ongoing sitework, providing insight into project sequencing and coordination on a large-scale build. MCSCTF said the experience also highlighted the role of site managers and collaboration among project teams, reinforcing classroom instruction and exposing students to potential career paths in the construction trades.
