Montgomery County’s Department of Environmental Protection has added a new food scraps recycling drop-off location at the Pike Central Farm Market in North Bethesda.
The site will operate on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm beginning April 25 through November 21, providing residents with an additional option to recycle food waste as part of the County’s Earth Month initiatives.
The program now includes five farmers market locations across the county and accepts a variety of materials such as food scraps, coffee grounds, dairy, and meat bones. Officials say the expansion aims to make recycling more convenient and reduce waste-related emissions, noting that residents have already recycled more than 193,000 pounds of food scraps since the program began in 2024.
