The community is rallying to support a local mother who was injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking with her infant daughter on May 5 in Montgomery Village.
According to a GoFundMe created on her behalf, the mother shielded her child from the impact, taking the full force of the collision and suffering a fractured leg. She is scheduled to undergo surgery and says she will be unable to work while recovering, creating financial strain from medical bills, transportation needs, and housing costs.
According to Montgomery County Police, 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the area of Clubhouse Road and Centerway Road for a pedestrian struck. The adult female was transported to an area hospital with a broken leg, while the infant was not injured but taken for evaluation. Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Community members are now stepping in to help the family during recovery as they face mounting expenses.
