Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded early Saturday morning to a fatal single-vehicle collision in Bethesda.
According to police, at approximately 12:05 am on May 9, 2026, 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 7100 block of Glenbrook Road for the report of a collision involving a 2022 white Toyota Venza. The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling on Glenbrook Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a pole before crashing into a tree.
The adult male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult passenger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Police said the identity of the deceased will be released following proper notification of next of kin.
