$1,000,000 Winning Scratch-off Sold at Maryland 7-Eleven

A Silver Spring woman won a $1 million top prize playing a Maryland Lottery scratch-off after turning a routine Powerball win into a life-changing payout.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the woman redeemed a $14-winning Powerball ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 13401 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, then used part of the winnings to buy another scratch-off ticket that won $20. She used those winnings to purchase the scratch-off ticket that ultimately made her a millionaire.

The winner and her husband claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on May 8. The woman said she plans to use the winnings to pay bills and restart a beauty supply business. The 7-Eleven that sold the ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus.
