Maryland Man Turns $10 Scratch-Off Into $50,000 Lottery Prize

A Silver Spring man turned one lottery win into another after a $10 scratch-off ticket earned him $500, which he then used in part to buy a $30 scratch-off ticket worth $50,000.

After leaving work, he stopped at Glenmont Beer & Wine to cash in the original winning ticket and decided to purchase the Diamonds & Gold scratch-off while there.

The man scanned the ticket inside the store and discovered the $50,000 prize. He later shared the news with his wife and brother-in-law and said he plans to use the winnings to pay off bills. According to the Maryland Lottery, the Diamonds & Gold scratch-off launched in April, and this is the first $50,000 prize claimed in the game. Three $50,000 prizes and two $2 million top prizes remain unclaimed.
