Historic Carousel Returns As Ovid Hazen Wells Park Reopens

Montgomery Parks celebrated the grand reopening of Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park on Saturday following the completion of major renovations at the 290-acre park in Clarksburg.

The reopening celebration featured the debut of the restored Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel, along with live music, skate park demonstrations, refreshments, and family activities. Montgomery Parks officials said the renovations include a new skate park, upgraded play areas, scenic trails, and other outdoor amenities designed to expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

The historic carousel, originally built in 1915 by the Herschell-Spillman Company, was once operated by the Wells family on the National Mall before being preserved by Montgomery Parks and returned to Clarksburg. Photos courtesy @eight.oh.eight on Instagram.
