Family, friends, and community members are rallying around the loved ones of 50-year-old Glenda Patricia Salamanca Reyes following her death over the weekend.
A GoFundMe created to support funeral and memorial expenses describes Reyes as a loving mother, grandmother, family member, and friend whose kindness and hard work impacted many people around her. Loved ones said she was known for constantly putting others before herself and making people feel welcomed and cared for through her warmth, humor, and generosity.
Reyes was an employee at Centrado / Luchador Bar & Eats at 5530 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.
“Anyone who knew Glenda knew how hardworking she was,” the fundraiser states. “No matter how tired she was, she continued to show up for her family with love, strength, and care.”
According to Montgomery County Police, officers responded on May 16 to an apartment in the 3900 block of Blackburn Lane for a welfare check after Reyes failed to report to work. Officers located her deceased inside the apartment with apparent trauma to her body. An autopsy later determined she died from multiple stab wounds and ruled the death a homicide. Police have charged Reyes’s son, 28-year-old Ricardo Adelso Colato Salamanca, with first-degree murder and motor vehicle theft. Authorities said he was arrested in Salisbury, North Carolina by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and remains in custody awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
Family members say the loss has left them devastated and are asking for support as they prepare funeral arrangements and continue grieving Reyes’s death. They also encouraged those unable to donate to keep the family in their prayers and share the fundraiser with others.
