Shake Shack Moves Closer to Opening New Bethesda Restaurant

Last month, we reported that signage had been installed at the future Shake Shack location in Downtown Bethesda. The restaurant will take another step toward opening on Thursday, June 4, when it appears before Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services for its liquor license hearing.

The new restaurant is planned for 7535 Old Georgetown Road, inside the former SunTrust bank space on the ground floor of the Element 28 development. According to its Google listing,  Shake Shack is anticipating a June 24 opening.

As previously reported, Shake Shack secured a nearly $1 million interior build-out permit for the location, signaling a significant investment in the upcoming restaurant. Once open, the Downtown Bethesda location will become the chain’s fourth in Montgomery County, joining existing locations in Kentlands, Westfield Montgomery, and Cabin John Village.
