Montgomery County Raises Pride Flag to Kick Off Pride Month

Montgomery County leaders, LGBTQ+ advocates, and community members gathered Thursday for the County’s eighth annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony, officially kicking off Pride Month.

The event featured remarks from County Executive Marc Elrich, Councilmember Evan Glass, transgender advocate Karen Holmes, and MomsRising government relations director Valeria Carranza.

Participants arrived aboard Montgomery County’s #RideWithPride Ride On bus, which will operate on routes throughout the County during June. County officials highlighted Montgomery County’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and LGBTQ+ rights, noting the annual ceremony recognizes the contributions of LGBTQ+ residents and reaffirms support for a community where all residents are welcomed, valued, and respected.
