Hallie Wells Middle School in Clarksburg earned first place in the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s 2026 Paint the Plow contest with its snowplow design, “Together,” which featured a blue plow and people holding hands beneath the word “Together.”
More than 500 people voted in the contest, which is held annually during National Public Works Week to recognize essential public works employees.
Cabin John Middle School in Potomac received second place for a design inspired by the Public Works Week theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” while Tilden Middle School in Rockville placed third with its spring-themed plow, “Bees on the Block.” Fourteen middle schools participated in the contest, and the winning snowplows will be used on Montgomery County roads during future winter weather events.
