Montgomery County will host its 16th Annual Older Adults Safety Forum on Wednesday, June 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring.
The free event, held in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, will provide information on elder abuse prevention, financial exploitation, scams, consumer protection and resources available to older and vulnerable adults.
The forum will feature presentations from members of the Montgomery County Elder/Vulnerable Adult Abuse Task Force, including representatives from the Police Department, State’s Attorney’s Office, Department of Health and Human Services, Fire and Rescue Service and Office of the County Attorney. Attendees will also hear from a local resident who lost more than $100,000 in a scam, participate in a Q&A session and have access to on-site dental screenings provided by the DHHS Public Health Dental Clinic.
