Laytonsville

Beer Trade Co. Now Open

Beer Trade Co., the craft beer concept founded by Montgomery County native Chris Sanchez, has officially opened its first Maryland location in Laytonsville.

Located at 6860 Olney Laytonsville Road in the Red Barn Shops, the new restaurant occupies the former home of The Office. The opening marks a homecoming for Sanchez and business partner Niko Tombros, who grew up in the Silver Spring area and graduated from James Hubert Blake High School together in 2002 before Sanchez relocated to Florida and launched Beer Trade Co. in 2014.

Beer Trade Co. operates on a casual, honor-based model that allows customers to browse a large selection of beer, grab drinks directly from display coolers, and settle their tabs when they’re ready to leave. The concept combines elements of a bottle shop and neighborhood bar, with an emphasis on sampling, conversation and a relaxed atmosphere.

The menu features a variety of pub fare, including signature “Florida Man” wings made with honey and Everglades seasoning, along with chicken sandwiches, burgers and other offerings. According to Sanchez, the Laytonsville location reflects the company’s longstanding philosophy: “Grab a beer and chill.”
