Gabe’s, the discount retailer formerly known as Rugged Warehouse, is permanently closing its Gaithersburg location at 30 N Frederick Avenue in Gaitherstowne Plaza.
The store began its going-out-of-business sale on July 2 and is currently offering 10% to 30% off all merchandise, with all sales final. While an exact closing date has not been announced, a representative at the store said the location is expected to close sometime in August.
Founded in 1961, Gabe’s is an off-price retailer that offers discounted brand-name clothing, footwear, home goods, furniture, toys, beauty products and seasonal merchandise. The chain operates stores throughout the Mid-Atlantic and is known for carrying national brands at reduced prices.
According to real estate listings, neighboring retailer AutoZone appears poised to expand into the Gabe’s space following the closure. The closest Gabe’s location for Montgomery County shoppers will be at 417 S. Jefferson Street in Frederick.
