Rockville’s drinking water once again met or exceeded all federal water quality standards, according to the city’s newly released annual Drinking Water Quality Report.
The city’s water system serves approximately 54,000 residents through 13,500 accounts, while the remainder of Rockville is served by WSSC Water. Officials said recent upgrades at the city’s Potomac River Water Treatment Plant, including replacing chlorine gas with liquid chlorine, have improved reliability and workplace safety.
The report also notes the city submitted its required lead service-line notifications to customers on time but filed a related certification with the Maryland Department of the Environment after the deadline due to an administrative oversight. Officials said the delay did not affect drinking water quality or public health and that new compliance procedures have been implemented to prevent future reporting delays.
