The annual Toast2Peace on Peace Day celebration returns to Rockville on Saturday, July 11, honoring what would have been Mattie J.T. Stepanek’s 36th birthday with an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship at World of Beer, 196 E. Montgomery Ave., from 2 to 5 p.m.
Hosted by the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peace Foundation, the free community event celebrates the life and legacy of the late Rockville poet and peace activist while raising funds to support the foundation’s mission. A portion of restaurant sales during the event will benefit the foundation.
Guests can enjoy live entertainment from Tommy McFly (emcee), Ocho de Bastos, The Blarney Bench, ZamDance, Jimmy Alexander, and more. Family-friendly activities include music, dancing, games, crafts, and a Cornhole Tournament featuring both competitive and open-play divisions. The event is free to attend, though registration fees apply for tournament participants.
Organizers invite the community to “raise a glass or grateful hands” in celebration of peace, purpose and play while honoring Mattie’s enduring message of hope and kindness.
