The future of OTC Bar & Grille, previously known as Olde Towne Cafe, in Olde Towne Gaithersburg has become uncertain as the family behind the restaurant says the building is under contract to be sold.
In a recently launched GoFundMe campaign, the owners said they have been notified that the potential sale could lead to significant changes to their lease terms. They said they do not yet know whether they will be able to remain in their current location or will need to relocate, but either option would require financial resources beyond their means.
OTC Bar & Grille reopened in 2022 in the expanded space at 226 E. Diamond Avenue, combining the former Olde Towne Cafe and neighboring Diamond Drugs storefront. The restaurant is owned by the same family that has operated Olde Towne Cafe since 2000. According to the fundraiser, donations would help the family secure a new lease if possible, or cover relocation costs while allowing them to continue operating and retain their employees.
