A Frederick couple is celebrating a $50,000 Maryland Lottery win after purchasing a scratch-off at the Giant located at 18331 Leaman Farm Road in Germantown.
According to MD Lottery, the wife initially thought she had won $50,000 but wasn’t certain until her husband confirmed the ticket was a top-prize winner. The couple, who claimed the prize on July 10, said they plan to use part of the money for a vacation and put the rest into savings. The winning ticket was one of the last five $5 Money Maker scratch-offs remaining in the store’s inventory, all of which she decided to buy. She also credited a lucky quarter she keeps by her nightstand for helping scratch the winning ticket.
The Germantown Giant will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
