An 18-year-old woman from Silver Spring was killed early Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing DC-295 in Southeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 3:23 a.m. to the southbound lanes of DC-295, just past the East Capitol Street on-ramp, for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Investigators determined that Camari Primrose had exited a vehicle stopped in the northbound lanes, ran across the northbound side of the highway, crossed the guardrail, and entered the southbound lanes, where she was struck by a Ford Escape. She was pronounced dead at the scene by DC Fire and EMS.
The driver remained at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
