Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a working house fire in the 18700 block of Calypso Place in Gaithersburg.
Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Due to the heavy fire conditions upon arrival, incident commanders requested a second alarm, bringing additional personnel and equipment to the scene to support firefighting operations and help ensure firefighter safety amid the intense heat and demanding workload.
The fire has since been brought under control, though crews remain on scene extinguishing hot spots. Residents are asked to avoid the area while firefighters and emergency personnel continue their work.
