A Silver Spring is $50,000 richer after purchasing a $5 scratch-off ticket, according to the Maryland Lottery.
The Montgomery County winner bought the ticket at KW Beer & Wine, 8513 Piney Branch Road, scratched it in the store, and had the owner scan it to confirm the $50,000 prize.
The winner said he plans to use the money to help others and put a down payment on a home for his family. KW Beer & Wine will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
