Montgomery County Police have released additional details about Saturday afternoon’s multi-vehicle crash at Columbia Pike and Fairland Road that sent 10 people, including three children, to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:43 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, when a white 2018 Hino moving truck traveling northbound on Columbia Pike struck 10 vehicles that were stopped in traffic near Fairland Road, according to the preliminary investigation. The driver of the moving truck remained at the scene and showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
Nine vehicles, including the moving truck, sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
Police cited the driver of the moving truck for negligent driving in a careless and imprudent manner endangering life, property, and persons; failure to control speed to avoid a collision; driving at a speed greater than was reasonable and prudent; and following another vehicle more closely than was reasonable and prudent.
