Potbelly Permanently Closes

Potbelly has permanently closed its restaurant at 544 N. Frederick Ave. in the Gaithersburg Square shopping center (h/t Pike.and.Rozay on Instagram.

The sandwich chain notified customers of the closure in an email, directing them to its nearby locations at 128 Boardwalk Place in Gaithersburg and 20940 Frederick Road in Germantown.

Potbelly’s Rockville location at 199 E Montgomery Ave Ste, which has been “temporarily closed” for renovations since February, is still expected to reopen.

Potbelly is a fast-casual chain known for its toasted sanwhiches, soups, salads, milkshakes, and cookies, with menu favorites including the A Wreck, Italian, and Meatball subs. The company was founded in Chicago in 1977 as an antique shop that also sold sandwiches and has since grown into a nationwide brand. Potbelly has not publicly announced a reason for the Gaithersburg location’s permanent closure.
