A Burtonsville woman is celebrating after winning a $50,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket during a routine grocery trip.
According to MD Lottery , while shopping at a Giant supermarket in Laurel, she purchased $20 worth of scratch-offs, including a $5 Multiply Your Money ticket. After winning $5 on one ticket, she was shocked to reveal the game’s $50,000 top prize on another. She scanned the ticket to confirm the win before rushing home to surprise her husband.
The couple said they’ll wait until the money is in the bank before deciding how to spend it, though they plan to use it for something “special.” The winning ticket was sold at the Giant supermarket at 1009 Fairlawn Street in the Prince George’s County portion of Laurel, which will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize winner.
