A Maryland Lottery player is $1 million richer after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket at a Royal Farms for Wednesday night’s drawing.
The $1 million ticket matched the first five numbers drawn — 30, 36, 40, 42 and 57 — but missed the Powerball number, 2. The winning ticket was sold at the Royal Farms located at 1558 Annapolis Road in Odenton, according to FOX45.
No ticket matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, allowing the top prize to grow to an estimated $707 million, with a cash option of approximately $309.7 million, for the next drawing on Saturday, Aug. 1. Wednesday’s drawing marked the 38th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot was won on May 2, when winning tickets in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million, while the odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 24.9.
