The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering free back-to-school vaccination clinics now through Friday, Sept. 25, to help students meet Maryland’s school immunization requirements before the new school year begins.
The free clinics are open to all Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students, regardless of insurance status, and are intended to help families avoid school exclusions due to missing required vaccinations. Maryland requires schools to maintain proof of immunization for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Students entering seventh grade are required to receive the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and meningococcal (MCV) vaccines. Other vaccines available through the program include HPV, varicella (chickenpox), measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), meningococcal B, and COVID-19 vaccines.
Parents and guardians can schedule appointments by contacting one of the County’s immunization clinics, including the Dennis Avenue Health Center (240-777-1050), Germantown Health Center (240-777-3380), Silver Spring Health Center (240-777-3160), or the School Health Services Immunization Center (240-740-4430). Children ages 18 and younger who are uninsured, enrolled in Medicaid, or American Indian/Alaska Native may also qualify for additional vaccines. Parents are encouraged to review their children’s immunization records and submit updated documentation to their school’s health office before the first day of classes.
