Montgomery County Police say a reported armed individual that prompted a large police response Thursday morning was determined to be a swatting incident.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the area of Danville Drive in North Bethesda for a report of an armed individual. Following a preliminary investigation, police determined the call was a swatting incident. Swatting incidents typically involve false emergency reports intended to trigger a large law enforcement response to a location.
A large police presence remained in the area while officers investigated. Police said the scene has since been secured and there is no current threat to the community.
