Montgomery County’s annual Friendship Picnic will return Sunday, Aug. 23, bringing residents of different cultures and faiths together for a free community celebration at Wheaton Regional Park.
The picnic will run from noon to 5 p.m. at the park, located at 2000 Shorefield Road in Wheaton. Admission is free, registration is not required, and food and beverages will be provided.
Lunch options will include traditional American, Kosher, Halal and vegetarian meals. Activities for all ages will include live music, dancing, face painting, a petting zoo, moon bounces, a carousel and rides on the park’s miniature train. The event will also feature activities focused on learning about different cultures and building a peaceful and respectful community.
The Friendship Picnic is an initiative of the Montgomery County Committee Against Hate/Violence and is supported by numerous County agencies and community organizations.
Free satellite parking and shuttle service will be available from the Wheaton Ice Rink and athletic fields and John F. Kennedy High School.
