A 67-year-old Gaithersburg man has died from injuries he suffered after being struck by a driver last month, according to Montgomery County Police.
The victim, identified as Tesfaye Fugago Liranso, was struck at approximately 2:34 p.m. on Friday, July 24, on West Deer Park Road near Hermosa Place in Gaithersburg.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2018 Toyota RAV4 was traveling westbound on West Deer Park Road when Liranso entered the westbound travel lane and was struck. Investigators believe Liranso may have been experiencing a medical emergency when he entered the roadway.
Liranso was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries on Saturday, August 8. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Because the collision resulted in a fatality, the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation.
