Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Monday night in Rockville.
Police have identified the woman who died as 44-year-old Raoudha Khelifi of Rockville.
At approximately 8:25 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the area of Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway for a report of pedestrians struck by a vehicle.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined that a vehicle traveling in the area struck Khelifi and her 4-year-old son. Khelifi was transported to an area hospital, where she later died. Her son was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver, an adult male, was not injured and remained at the scene. Police said he is cooperating with the investigation. An adult female passenger in the vehicle was also uninjured.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing and could take several weeks to months to complete. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
