The 2nd Annual Germantown Back to School Giveaway will return to Northwest High School on Sunday, August 23, offering free school supplies, food, haircuts, activities and more for local families.
The free community event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. and was created by local entrepreneurs and Northwest High School alumni Chris Patterson and Brandon Cheng as a way to give back to the Germantown community and help students prepare for the upcoming school year.
Organizers expect approximately 500 to 700 attendees this year. Families will have access to free backpacks and school supplies, food and drinks, haircuts for children and teens, nail painting, multi-sport drills led by local professional trainers, moonbounces and games.
The event debuted last year and is returning with plans to serve even more families while continuing to build an annual back-to-school tradition in Germantown. Organizers said the goal is to help reduce some of the financial burden associated with preparing children for a new school year while providing a fun community event. All giveaways and activities are free.
The giveaway is supported by local businesses, community partners, volunteers and other individuals who contribute supplies, services, food, funding and time.
