$150,000 Powerball Ticket Sold at Maryland Harris Teeter

A 20-year-old college student is celebrating a $150,000 Powerball win after purchasing a ticket earlier this month in Columbia, MD.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the student bought the ticket August 9 at Harris Teeter at 8620 Guilford Road after seeing that the Powerball jackpot had climbed above $500 million. He waited several days before checking the ticket and discovering he had won the $150,000 third-tier prize.

“I ran laps around the house,” the winner recalled after rushing home to tell his family.

The student claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on August 24. He has not finalized plans for the winnings but said he is considering taking a vacation and possibly purchasing his dream car, a BMW M5.

Although he rarely played the Lottery before the win, the student said he plans to continue playing.
