The 10th Annual Wheaton Arts Parade and Festival will return to downtown Wheaton on Sunday, September 27, bringing artists, musicians, dancers, community organizations and food vendors together for a day of art and entertainment.
The parade and festival begin at 10am, with activities continuing until 5pm. The parade will begin on Georgia Avenue just below University Boulevard and conclude at Marian Fryer Town Plaza, 2424 Reedie Drive, above the Wheaton Metro Station. Admission and parking are free.
Unlike a traditional parade, community members are invited to participate by pushing, pulling, carrying, wearing or performing their own artwork along the route. Registration remains open for those interested in joining the parade, and a limited number of festival booths are still available for artists.
Following the parade, more than 50 artist booths will make up the visual arts festival, with original artwork available for purchase. The event will also feature community art activities, a Kids’ Zone with free face painting and balloon twisting, and entertainment across three stages.
Performances will include musicians presented by Strathmore and Carpe Diem Arts, local school groups and dance companies featuring styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. Silver Branch Brewing Company will also operate a biergarten during the festival.
