Two women charged in connection with the 2026 killing of a 67-year-old woman in Silver Spring are scheduled to go on trial next year, according to a report from the Washington Blade.
Vanessa Tjongarero-Henderson, 29, of Clarksburg, and Samantha Raebel, 36, of Phoenix, Arizona, are scheduled for trial on April 19, 2027, in Montgomery County Circuit Court. According to court records cited by the Washington Blade, both women are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
The charges stem from the death of Hilde Henderson, Tjongarero-Henderson’s mother. Henderson was found dead inside her apartment at the Charter House in the 1300 block of Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring after officers responded for a welfare check on May 26. An autopsy determined she died from blunt-force trauma, and investigators believe she was killed on May 22.
Montgomery County Police previously said evidence gathered during the investigation led detectives to identify Tjongarero-Henderson and Raebel as suspects and obtain warrants charging both women with first-degree murder. The two were arrested June 10 in Genoa, Ohio, after a nationwide search and were later extradited to Maryland.
According to the Washington Blade, several court proceedings are scheduled ahead of the April trial, including a motions hearing on October 30, 2026, a pretrial conference on February 12, 2027, and another motions and status hearing on March 12, 2027.
