Montgomery County will celebrate Active Aging Week from Monday, October 5 through Sunday, October 11, with more than 50 programs, events and activities for residents ages 55 and older.

The week is part of an international effort promoting physical, mental and intellectual activity as people age. Programs will be offered throughout the County by Montgomery County agencies, the City of Gaithersburg, community organizations, nonprofits and hospitals.

The week will begin Monday, October 5, with the “Go, Grow, and Get Active” signature event from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, 13850 Travilah Road.

Participants will be able to choose from more than 40 activities and workshops, including yoga, tai chi, dancing, writing, pickleball and Wii games. A resource fair with more than 23 organizations will follow, along with health screenings for bone density, blood pressure and mental health.

Registration is required for the signature event. Additional Active Aging Week programs will take place throughout the County through October 11.
