A year after appearing on Gordon Ramsay’s “Secret Service,” Callahan’s Seafood Bar & Grill in Frederick appears to be thriving following the celebrity chef’s visit and the changes featured on the show.
Located at 1808 Rosemont Avenue, Callahan’s was featured in a special two-part episode of Ramsay’s FOX series last summer and followed Ramsay as he worked with the family-run restaurant after the next generation took over management. Staff tells us the restaurant has seen an increase in customers since the episodes aired.
Callahan’s offers a full menu of seafood, steaks and American classics, including Maryland crab cakes, crab imperial, stuffed shrimp, filet mignon, fish and chips, burgers and sandwiches. The restaurant has also maintained a busy schedule of weekly food and drink specials, happy hour and entertainment, including karaoke.
The restaurant was founded by Larry Callahan and is now operated by his daughters, who have continued the business while honoring his legacy. According to the restaurant, its focus remains on quality, fresh food and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere.
Ramsay’s “Secret Service” differs from his previous restaurant rescue shows by using hidden cameras and an undercover insider to observe restaurants before Ramsay reveals himself. The Frederick restaurant’s appearance was featured across two episodes, giving viewers a look at the challenges facing Callahan’s and the changes made during Ramsay’s visit.
