A 56-year-old Silver Spring man has died after being struck by a Tesla while crossing Georgia Avenue in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Bernard Massey was critically injured on September 3 around 4:08 p.m. in the 7700 block of Georgia Avenue. Police said Massey ran into the roadway midblock and outside a crosswalk, crossing between a stopped school bus and a sedan before entering the southbound lanes.
He was struck by a black 2025 Tesla Model Y and taken to a nearby hospital. Massey died September 8 from his injuries.
Police said the Tesla driver called 911, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The investigation remains ongoing.
