Maryland Teacher Charged With Child Pornography Offenses

A Prince George’s County man who is currently employed as a high school teacher has been arrested and charged with multiple child pornography offenses, according to Maryland State Police.

Donald Kirk Marchand III, 70, of College Park, is charged with multiple counts of distribution and possession of child pornography. Maryland State Police said Marchand was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday without incident and taken to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, where he is being held pending a bail review.

The investigation began in September when the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating the distribution and possession of child pornography. On Wednesday morning, the Maryland State Police Child Exploitation Unit, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations and Prince George’s County Police, executed a search warrant at Marchand’s College Park residence. Police said multiple items of evidentiary value were seized.

Investigators said Marchand is currently employed as a teacher at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg and previously worked at other educational institutions.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation involving Marchand is asked to contact the Maryland State Police Child Exploitation Unit at 1-800-637-5437. The investigation remains ongoing.
