The Maryland Board of Public Works approved $1.15 million in grants for three projects in Montgomery County during its September 16 meeting, part of nearly $523 million in state spending approved by the Board. The Board is composed of Gov. Wes Moore, Comptroller Brooke Lierman and Treasurer Dereck Davis.
The Montgomery County funding includes $450,000 for Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children, Inc. to renovate a newly acquired facility and expand programming; $400,000 for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital to renovate facilities and systems at Camp Brighton Woods; and $300,000 for the People’s Foundation Inc. to construct a new daycare facility.
Overall, the Board approved 113 items totaling $522,989,176.32 in state expenditures. Grant agreements totaling approximately $16.7 million were approved for 31 projects across 16 counties and Baltimore City.
“Every item approved by the Board today represents an investment in Marylanders and the communities they call home,” Lierman said. “I am proud to see funding support projects that strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for people across our state.”
