Toys“R”Us is coming to Clarksburg Premium Outlets. The new store will be located between UGG and Armani Exchange, on the outlets upper level.
The news comes just days after Toys“R”Us announced a major U.S. expansion that will bring 120 new standalone stores across the country during the 2026 holiday season. The expansion, being carried out in partnership with Go! Retail Group, is expected to bring the company’s total number of standalone U.S. stores to 160.
Toys“R”Us made a significant return to Maryland last year, opening a 7,000-square-foot flagship store at Arundel Mills in Hanover in November 2025. A temporary Toys“R”Us Shop also opened at The Mall in Columbia. The brand operates smaller shops inside Macy’s stores, including locations at Westfield Montgomery and Westfield Wheaton. An opening date has not yet been announced.
Montgomery County also played an important role in the history of Toys“R”Us. Washington, D.C. native Charles P. Lazarus started the business that eventually became Toys“R”Us in 1948 and opened the first Toys“R”Us store that used the actual name in Rockville in 1957.
The Clarksburg location will mark a return of a standalone Toys“R”Us store to Montgomery County nearly 70 years after the first location opened in Rockville. Additional details, including an opening date, have not yet been announced.
