Boo at the Zoo will return to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., from October 16 through October 18, offering three evenings of trick-or-treating, after-hours animal viewing and Halloween activities for families.
Guests are encouraged to come in costume and visit treat stations throughout the Zoo, with a free souvenir goodie bag provided for collecting candy, snacks and other giveaways. Halloween decorations and skeleton scenes will also be set up throughout the grounds.
This year’s event will include a kids dance party and a new pumpkin patch for family photos. The Conservation Carousel and National Zoo Choo Choo will also be available for an additional fee.
Admission includes special after-hours access to the Small Mammal House, Elephant Community Center and Reptile Discovery Center. National Zoo members receive discounted tickets and exclusive early entry from 5 to 6 p.m. The Zoo will close to daytime visitors at 2 p.m. on October 16, 17 and 18 to prepare for each evening’s event. The National Zoo is also offering Night of the Living Zoo as a separate, more adult-oriented Halloween event.
