A 57-year-old Rockville man has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for a campaign of violent and graphic threats targeting at least 25 people and their families, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware.
Federal prosecutors said Justin Dynlacht sent more than 20 emails, faxes and letters between November 2022 and April 2024 to employees of companies in Delaware and several other states. According to court documents, the messages became increasingly violent and included threats describing torture, sexual assault and murder. At least one contained racist language, and Dynlacht signed some messages using the names of mass murderers.
Prosecutors said several recipients and their families changed how they lived because of the threats.
FBI agents arrested Dynlacht at his Rockville home in May 2024. He pleaded guilty in March 2025 to one count of stalking a Delaware resident who received the threats.
U.S. District Judge Richard G. Andrews sentenced Dynlacht to 46 months in prison, above the advisory federal sentencing guidelines range of 30 to 37 months. Prosecutors argued that the recommended range did not adequately reflect the scope of his conduct or the fear caused to the victims.
Dynlacht was also sentenced to three years of supervised release with special conditions intended to protect the community. The FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Task Force investigated the case.
