Montgomery County Council Seeks Applicants for Advisory Commission on Policing

The Montgomery County Council is seeking applicants for upcoming vacancies on the Advisory Commission on Policing (ACP), with applications due by 5pm Monday, November 2.

The commission advises the Council on policing matters, recommends potential legislation or regulations, conducts public outreach and accepts feedback from the community. The body, previously known as the Policing Advisory Commission, was established in 2019.

The ACP includes 11 public members nominated by Councilmembers, along with a youth member age 25 or younger and a young adult member between ages 26 and 35 nominated by the County Executive. Two Montgomery County Police Department representatives also serve as institutional members.

Commission members serve three-year terms without compensation, although they are eligible for mileage reimbursement and dependent care costs. The commission is required to meet at least six times per year.

Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume of no more than four pages detailing professional and civic experience, along with their contact information. Applications can be emailed to [email protected] and addressed to Council President Fani-González or mailed to the Montgomery County Council Office at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville.

Applications must be received by 5pm November 2. Councilmembers will review submissions and select applicants for interviews following the deadline.
