A Silver Spring man won $50,000 on a Maryland Lottery Ravens scratch-off after uncovering five separate $10,000 prizes on his ticket.
According to MD Lottery, the Montgomery County resident, who works at a grocery store, purchased the $10 Ravens X10 ticket at the Seat Pleasant Save-a-Lot in Prince George’s County. The winner said he initially scratched off a $10,000 prize before uncovering another, and then another. By the time he finished scratching the ticket, his winnings totaled $50,000.
“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I was a winner that day,” he told Maryland Lottery officials while claiming his prize on October 2.
The man had not yet told his wife about the win when he visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He planned to surprise her by texting her a photo of himself holding a $50,000 Maryland Lottery check. Although he lives in Montgomery County, the winner grew up in the Baltimore area and is a Ravens fan.
“There are a lot Washington fans near me,” he said while discussing what it is like being a Ravens fan in the area.
