Update: Damage Exceeds $300,000 Following Barn Fire

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a large barn fire along Laytonsville Road (Route 108) in Laytonsville early Monday morning.

According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, approximately 75 firefighters responded to the 100-by-75-foot barn, which was well-involved when crews arrived. The barn contained multiple large round hay bales and farm equipment.

Damage is estimated at more than $300,000. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and under investigation. Spontaneous combustion is under consideration, though officials have not ruled out other possible causes.
