Timber Pizza Co. Expanding to Montgomery County With Two Locations

Timber Pizza Co. has signed a two-unit development agreement to open new restaurants in Chevy Chase and Bethesda as the wood-fired pizza chain continues its expansion in Maryland.

The agreement was signed by Kyle and Carolyn McDonnell, a husband-and-wife team with local ties. Carolyn grew up in Kensington, and the couple plans to bring two Timber Pizza locations to the Montgomery County area.

Specific addresses have not yet been announced. The McDonnells are currently searching for locations in Chevy Chase and Bethesda and will work with Timber Pizza’s development team and real estate partners to select the sites.

Timber Pizza was founded in 2014 by Andrew Dana and Chris Brady, who started the business with a pizza oven and a 1967 Chevrolet pickup truck. The company has since expanded from its mobile pizza operation into brick-and-mortar restaurants while continuing to operate pizza trucks and provide catering throughout Maryland and the broader DMV region.

Kyle McDonnell has experience in the hotel franchise industry and is a co-owner of Old Line Golf Club in Annapolis. The couple’s relationship with Timber Pizza began several years ago when the company catered the golf club’s grand opening.

The new agreement represents Timber Pizza’s continued expansion in Maryland and is part of the company’s goal of reaching 15 locations by the end of 2027.
