Guapo’s is preparing to launch a new restaurant concept in Northern Virginia, with Guapo’s Mar y Tierra coming to Reston.
According to The Burn, the restaurant will open at 1845 Fountain Drive at The Spectrum at Reston Town Center, taking over the former Not Your Average Joe’s space. Preliminary work is underway, including exterior painting, and “coming soon” banners have been installed at the building.
The Reston restaurant will be the first location for Guapo’s Mar y Tierra, a new concept from the family behind Guapo’s. A company spokesperson told FFXnow that Mar y Tierra will offer a new menu and contemporary design while maintaining the hospitality associated with the Guapo’s brand.
The name “Mar y Tierra” translates to “sea and land,” though specific details about the menu have not yet been announced. Guapo’s said additional information about the food and an opening timeline will be released closer to the restaurant’s launch.
Guapo’s currently operates its full-service Guapo’s Cocina & Bar restaurants throughout the DMV, along with the fast-casual Guapo’s GO concept. In Montgomery County, Guapo’s GO recently opened at 12211 Darnestown Road across from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, taking over the former California Tortilla space. The Gaithersburg restaurant is the first Maryland location for Guapo’s GO and specializes in 24-hour-marinated charcoal chicken along with tacos, burritos, bowls, pupusas, fajitas and other items.
