More Than $2.7 Million in State Funding Approved for Montgomery County Projects

The Maryland Board of Public Works has approved more than $2.7 million in grants for projects in Montgomery County as part of $426 million in state spending approved this week.

The Board approved 121 items totaling approximately $426.2 million during its October 7 meeting. Montgomery County grants include:

  • $977,000 to Housing Unlimited Inc. for the acquisition of independent affordable housing units for low-income adults with mental illness.
  • $600,000 to Cross Community Inc. for construction of an early childhood learning center with outdoor space and an ADA-accessible entrance ramp.
  • $500,000 to the Olney Theatre Center for the Arts for work that includes completion of a Makers’ Center and Education Center.
  • $250,000 to the Technology Council of Maryland for BioHub Maryland, including the purchase of laboratory equipment to support training facilities.
  • $200,000 to MAS Maryland Inc. for expanded outdoor recreation, wellness and safety amenities at the Noor Center campus.
  • $150,000 to A Wider Circle for the removal and replacement of deteriorated parking pavement at its property.
  • $36,000 to Metropolitan Washington Ear.

The seven Montgomery County grants total approximately $2.7 million.

Statewide, the Board approved grant agreements for 48 projects totaling nearly $21 million as part of the more than $426 million in expenditures approved during the meeting.
