Former Teachers, Ages 77 and 92, Return to Classroom for Special Story Time

Two retired teachers living at Artis Senior Living of Potomac recently returned to the classroom, spending a morning reading books to preschoolers at Wilson Lane Learning Center in Bethesda.

Jane Nicholl, 77, a former schoolteacher in Wisconsin, and Leslie Pfiffner, 92, who previously taught in Pennsylvania, traded their daily routines for story time with young students. The visit gave both educators an opportunity to reconnect with their former profession while sharing their love of reading with a new generation.

“At Artis, honoring yesterday and celebrating today means creating moments like these, when treasured memories inspire new relationships,” said John-Allen Yutzy, director of sales and marketing for Artis Senior Living of Potomac. “Jane and Leslie rediscovered the joy of teaching while sharing the simple magic of a story with a new generation.”
