A Montgomery County couple is celebrating an early Halloween treat after winning $30,000 on a Maryland Lottery 30X Cash scratch-off ticket purchased in Clarksburg.
The couple, who are using the aliases “Robert and Linda,” visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on October 19 to claim their prize, bringing Halloween masks along for the occasion.
According to the Maryland Lottery, Robert was enjoying his Saturday morning coffee when he decided to scratch several tickets he had purchased. He initially uncovered a $5,000 prize before discovering five additional $5,000 prizes on the same ticket, bringing his total winnings to $30,000.
“I couldn’t believe it. I took a picture and put it in my safe,” Robert told Lottery officials.
The couple plans to use their winnings toward their children’s education.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 22702 Gosnell Farm Drive in Boyds. The store will receive a $300 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
